The Giving Harvest
A Community Food Swap & Mission Partnership
Carlton Hill Farm is committed to supporting our community through fresh, locally grown food. The Giving Harvest is a two-part initiative that benefits both local families and Old Man Rivers, a Parkersburg mission working to fight food insecurity.
The Giving Harvest launches April 18, with our community food swap beginning that same day as part of the broader initiative. We’ll start with early-season farm products, and offerings will evolve as the season progresses.
The Giving Harvest Food Swap
The food swap allows community members to trade non-perishable food items for fresh farm products from Carlton Hill Farm.
How it works:
Bring non-perishable food items to our farm stand
Exchange them for available farm products—while supplies last
Offerings change throughout the season based on availability
Donations are always welcome, even without participating in the swap
All non-perishable items are collected, sorted, and delivered directly to Old Man Rivers to support their food assistance efforts.
This creates a sustainable cycle of giving—fresh food for the community, and pantry staples for those in need.
A Dedicated Farm Plot for Old Man Rivers
In addition to the food swap, a portion of our land is set aside specifically to grow food for Old Man Rivers.
Grown exclusively for donation
Planned in coordination with Old Man Rivers to match their needs
Helps ensure a steady supply of fresh, nutrient-dense food for the people they serve
How to Support The Giving Harvest
There are a few simple ways to get involved:
Donate non-perishable food at the farm stand in exchange for fresh farm products
Spread the word to friends, family, and neighbors
Support the farm—every purchase from Carlton Hill Farm helps sustain programs like this
Together, we can create a stronger, more food-secure community—one harvest at a time.
