Ingredients (Serves 4)

  • 4 skinless whole quail (approx. 5 oz each)

  • 2 tbsp olive or canola oil

  • ½ 1 tsp onion powder

  • ½ tsp garlic powder

  • ½ tsp salt (or to taste)

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • 4 sprigs fresh rosemary

  • 4 sprigs fresh sage

  • 4 sprigs fresh thyme

  • Kitchen twine

  • Aluminum foil

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Quail

  • Start by tying the quail legs together with kitchen twine. This helps them cook evenly and keeps the presentation neat.

  • Drizzle each quail lightly with olive or canola oil.

Step 2: Season and Add Herbs

  • In a small bowl, mix the onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.

  • Sprinkle a light amount of the seasoning mixture over each quail, then gently rub it in to coat evenly.

  • Tuck sprigs of rosemary, sage, and thyme under the legs or place them on top of each bird.

Step 3: Wrap and Cook

  • Individually wrap each quail in aluminum foil, sealing it well to trap moisture.

  • Preheat your air fryer to **430°F** (220°C).

  • Place the wrapped quail in the air fryer basket, making sure they are not overcrowded.

  • Cook for 20 minutes.

Step 4: Crispin it a bit (Optional)

  • If you prefer a crispier exterior, carefully open the foil after the initial 20 minutes and air-fry the quail for 2 more minutes.

Step 5: Serve and Enjoy

  • Remove the quail from the air fryer, unwrap from the foil, and discard the herbs and twine.

  • Serve hot with your favorite vegetables—roasted carrots, sautéed greens, or mashed potatoes make excellent pairings.

This easy air-fried whole quail is a fantastic way to enjoy a gourmet-style meal at home with minimal effort. Whether for a special occasion or a simple weeknight dinner, it’s sure to impress. Enjoy!
